What really IS AI?

Supervised Learning: When you show AI thousands of examples with the correct answers, it learns the pattern. For example, when you show a kid pictures of cats labeled "cats" and dogs labeled "dogs," they soon learn the difference. Supervised learning can sort things into categories, predict numbers, and learn complex patterns involving images, text, and speech.

Large Language Models (LLMs), like Claude or ChatGPT, are an example of supervised learning. By training on massive amounts of text, an LLM can understand and generate human language at scale. It can write, summarize, translate, answer questions, and code. But it can't replace a human. It's more like a very book-smart but naive intern who needs instructions and monitoring. You can instruct it on what to do, but it still needs you to offer parameters and guidelines to produce anything useful.
